The Concept

At TEDxPanaji we have come up with xplore, a unique concept of events in between two TEDxPanaji events, that will deliver attendees hands on experience about various issues or practices that they are usually not aware of or do not have the opportunity to know about. The events will be free of any charge to all attendees.

The first ever xplore event is called 'What's on my plate?' which focuses on one such issue - the food on our table. The trend off late has been to move from processed foods to organic foods, however, people at large are not aware how this food is made and how it reaches their plate.

'What's on my plate' xplore event is uniquely designed to bridge this information gap between urban dwellers and farmers. The core objective of the event is to provide insightful information about various agricultural practices in Goa, by taking attendees to farms and giving them a hands on experience of growing food and expose them to steps such as preparing the ground, sowing seeds, digging, harvesting, milking cows etc.

Each experience would be uniquely curated by various experts in agriculture, therefore providing a wholesome experience to the attendees. Through this xplore, we intend to get a deeper understanding of this issue and spark a real change in the community that we operate in.

The Event

This whole day event will consist of 10 locations where farming experiences will be exclusively curated by experts who are professionals in their respective field. Particpants will choose one location of their choice. The event will begin with an interactive session at each of the locations, post which participants will take part in real agriculture. This will be followed by lunch and then the participants will be taken back to a central location for a concluding session, wherein they would exchange their learning with other participants. The entire event would be documented through audio-visual recording and compiled into a 30-60 min. documentary film.
